A hotel with sixty rooms does not need an IT department, but every day it handles what a whole chain handles: bookings, guests, a restaurant, a store, staff and a cash desk.

The trouble starts when each of those lives in its own file or program.

Where does the time really go?

It goes on copying. Reception types it, the accountant types it again, and the owner asks for a figure nobody can find. Each copy is a chance for a mistake, and each mistake shows up late.

What changes with one system?

Reception types the booking once and the room shows as taken on the chart. At check-in the guest account opens by itself, restaurant orders reach it, each payment enters the treasury at once, and revenue is posted every night.

The guest here is a normal customer and the invoice is a normal invoice. The account open during the stay gathers nights and services, then ends at check-out in an invoice in the customer's name.
