Should I build my own small app with AI instead of subscribing to an ERP?
The short answer

Don't build the core of your company yourself. AI can produce a working screen in hours, but the hard part comes after: correct accounting entries, permissions for each employee, backups, a record of every change, and someone to fix it at month end. A ready ERP like Intagya ERP gives you that from day one, and AI stays great for small tools around it.

A spare parts shop owner spent a Friday night with an AI tool. Three hours later he had an app that recorded products and printed invoices. He was happy with it for two weeks.

Then the accountant asked for one customer's statement over three months, and it wasn't there. Two invoices vanished after an edit nobody could trace. And the new hire opened the app and saw the shop's entire profit.

The app wasn't bad. It was missing the things you don't see on the first try.

Is an app that AI writes in a few hours enough to run a company?

It's enough to show a friend. It's not enough to trust with your money. AI does exactly what you ask, and the problem is that you don't yet know everything you'll need to ask for.

ERP systems weren't built overnight. They grew out of the problems of many companies before yours: the partial return, the discount after the invoice, the item bought by the carton and sold by the piece, the customer who pays half today and the rest next month.

What doesn't show up on day one but shows up a month later?

The things nobody asks for at the start because you can't see them, until they become the ones that matter most:

Each line is a project on its own, with special cases you only discover when they happen.

Who fixes the app when it breaks on the last day of the month?

You do. That's where most people get stuck. You didn't write the code and you don't understand most of it, and when you ask the tool to fix a bug it may fix it and quietly break something else.

With a ready system there's a team responsible for fixes and updates, and the bug you hit has usually been hit, and fixed, somewhere else first.

Is my data safe in an app I built myself?

Ask where the app runs. On a PC in the shop? If the disk dies, a year of invoices goes with it. On a cheap server? Who updates it, who closes its security holes, who checks the passwords?

Your customer, price and supplier data is among the most valuable things your company owns. Don't leave it to an experiment.

What does the free app really cost me?

More than it looks. Count your own hours building and fixing it. Count the price of one wrong supplier balance. And count the day the company grows and you have to rebuild the app from scratch and move the data by hand.

In most cases a monthly subscription costs less than the first big mistake.

Is building my own tool ever the right call?

Yes, honestly. A quick prototype to understand what you need before you pick a system, or a small tool for an internal job that doesn't touch accounts or stock: that's where AI is fast and genuinely useful.

Our view is simple: build the small tools around the system, not the heart of the company.

What do I get in Intagya ERP that I don't have to build?

Before you write a single line of code, list on paper the five things your company does every day, then try them in the system.

What to do tomorrow morning: open a 14-day free trial, no card needed, and enter one real invoice from yesterday plus one return. If Intagya ERP can't do what you need, building is still an option, and you've lost nothing.

FAQ

Can I grow my own app into a full ERP later?

In theory, yes, but it takes years and a team. It's faster to start with a ready system and add what's missing around it.

Can I move my data from my current app to Intagya ERP?

Yes, you can import products, customers and suppliers from Excel or CSV files.

Does Intagya ERP have AI?

Yes, through the paid intagya AI add-on. It reads your system's figures, explains them and suggests, but it doesn't change data by itself.

Do I need a developer to run the system?

No. You pick your sector template and start, and the user guide is on the website.
